ASH – Fraxinus americana

AshAsh is straight grained, heavy, hard, moderately strong, and stiff. While the heartwood of ash is brown, the sapwood is lighter in color. With high shock resistance, it has good bending qualities.

Ash is commonly used in baseball bats, unupholstered furniture, flooring, and hand tools. Ash is often used as in less expensive substitute for Red Oak.
